Matt Damon has proved to be one of the greatest actors of the 21st century but over a decade ago, Damon was merely a developing actor who was on the cusp of his rise to stardom.

Fourteen years ago on this date, a 27-year-old Damon sat down poolside after the Oscars' luncheon to talk about how he was handling his first awards season after Good Will Hunting, a film in which he starred and co-wrote, received an outpouring of acclamation.

What Makes Matt Damon So Likable?

In the featured flashback, Damon is captured in awe as he recounts a photo that he had just taken with the other Best Actor nominees (Robert Duvall, Peter Fonda, Dustin Hoffman, and Jack Nicholson).

When asked if he has a speech planned, Damon humbly replies, "No, I'm not that audacious. I'm more than happy to go and take my mom and sit there and be a part of it. You know, I've never even been. I mean, I watched on TV last year."

While Jack Nicholson would win the Best Actor Award that year, Damon, alongside co-writer Ben Affleck, would win the Best Original Screenplay Award for Good Will Hunting.

Not too bad for your first Oscars, Mr. Damon. How do ya like them apples?
